Toll puts a small, useful checkpoint in front of the apps that pull you in. When you open one of your chosen apps, Toll pauses it and invites you to review a few photos. You can keep the ones you want and choose which ones to delete. After completing the review, your scroll window opens.

Toll is not designed to block you forever. It adds a deliberate moment between the impulse to open an app and the decision to continue.

No. Toll counts the act of reviewing and deciding, whether you keep a photo or choose to delete it. Photos are only deleted when you select them for deletion and confirm the change through Apple’s Photos interface.

Deleted photos may remain in the Recently Deleted album for a period of time, according to your iPhone’s Photos settings.

You choose the apps using Apple’s Screen Time controls. This can include apps such as TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, or Reddit. Apple protects the identity of your selections, so Toll receives protected selection tokens rather than a readable list of the apps you chose.

Toll offers a free three-day trial of the app-pause feature. The trial begins when you confirm the free App Store purchase. You are not automatically charged when the trial ends.

After three days, app pausing and earned scroll windows turn off unless you purchase the one-time unlock. The photo-review cleaner remains available without a purchase.

Toll is designed to keep your photos, app selections, activity history, and settings on your device. There is no Toll account, no advertising, and no behavioral analytics. Your photos are not uploaded to us or to RevenueCat.

Purchases are processed by Apple. Toll uses RevenueCat to validate the free trial, one-time unlock, and purchase restoration. RevenueCat receives an App Store purchase receipt and an anonymous app identifier for that purpose. It does not receive your photos, selected apps, or Screen Time activity.

Yes. The unlimited app-pause feature is unlocked with one purchase, not a subscription. In the United States, the price is $24.99; the App Store will show the applicable price for your country or region. There is no recurring monthly or annual charge.

Open Toll, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchase. Use the same Apple Account that made the purchase. The unlock may also be available to eligible members of your Apple Family Sharing group where supported by Apple.

If the purchase does not appear after restoring, confirm that you are signed in to the correct Apple Account and then email hello@thetoll.co.

Toll is currently available for iPhone. There is no announced Android release date.

Deleting Toll removes the settings and activity history stored locally by the app on that device. Photos you previously chose to delete are managed by Apple’s Photos app and are not restored when Toll is removed.

Deleting the app does not erase your App Store purchase history. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies, and RevenueCat may retain anonymous purchase-validation records so your purchase can be restored and duplicate trials can be prevented.
