Privacy Policy

The Toll is built on a simple principle: your phone is yours. The app is a tool that runs entirely on your device. We don’t have a server that stores your data, because we don’t collect it in the first place.
The short version
- No cloud. Your photos and app data never leave your iPhone.
- No account. There’s nothing to sign up for. No email, no login.
- No analytics, no tracking. We don’t measure what you do in the app, and there are no third-party trackers or ad SDKs.
- No ads.
What The Toll accesses on your device
Your photos
To let you clean up your library, The Toll needs permission to access your photos. This happens through Apple’s standard Photos permission. When you swipe to delete, the change is made locally on your device through the operating system. Your photos are never uploaded, copied off the device, or seen by us.
Screen Time & app activity
To pause your chosen apps and reopen them after your cleanup, The Toll uses Apple’s Screen Time / Family Controls framework. Apple is deliberate here: the system does not reveal the identities of the apps you select to The Toll, and any related activity data stays on your device under Apple’s protection. The Toll uses this only to apply and lift the pause you set up.
Your purchase
If you buy The Toll, the transaction is handled by Apple’s App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple’s handling of that purchase is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. The Toll has no servers that receive your personal data. The settings you choose, like which apps to pause and your unlock preferences, are stored locally on your device so the app can work, and they go away if you delete the app.
Children
If a parent uses the Family unlock to set a toll on a child’s device, the same rules apply: everything stays on that device, and no personal data is collected or transmitted to us. The Toll is not directed at children for the purpose of collecting their data, because The Toll does not collect data.
Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we’ll update this page and the “last updated” date above.
